IIUI Student Shot Dead In Hostel, Hunt For Assailant Underway

Islamabad: Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police have launched an intense manhunt and detained several suspects in connection with the brutal killing of a 22-year-old female student of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), who was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in her private hostel room in Sector G-10/1.
According to police sources, multiple teams have been constituted to trace the perpetrator. CCTV footage from surrounding areas is being reviewed, and geo-fencing has been conducted to narrow down leads.
Forensic evidence collected from the crime scene is under analysis, and investigators are also probing possible motives behind the targeted attack.
The tragic incident took place around 12:15 am on Friday night when an unknown man scaled the boundary wall of Kainaat Girls Hostel, located on Aoun Muhammad Rizvi Road, and reportedly remained in the courtyard for nearly an hour.
The victim, identified as “N,” encountered the intruder upon stepping out of her room. The assailant forced his way inside, where N and her roommates were present, and opened fire after threatening the girls into silence.
N sustained critical injuries and was rushed to PIMS Hospital by hostel staff and residents, but she succumbed to her wounds during treatment. The suspect, believed to be around 25 to 26 years old and dressed in white, fled the scene immediately after the attack.
A case under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) has been registered on the complaint of the victim’s brother, Zaid Khan, who traveled from Balakot upon hearing the news.
The incident has drawn widespread public outrage and calls for stricter security at private hostels.
IIUI condemns tragic death of its student
The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of one of its female students and extended heartfelt condolences to the grieving family.
In a statement issued Monday, the university clarified that the incident did not occur on its campus or within its official hostels. The crime took place at a privately-run hostel not affiliated with IIUI.
The university leadership has condemned the senseless act of violence and shared in the mourning of the young student’s loss, which has deeply impacted the entire academic community.
