PCB Denies Gillespie’s Unpaid Dues Allegation

Islamabad: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has addressed the recent allegations made by former head coach Jason Gillespie regarding unpaid dues for his time with the team.
In an interview with an Australian media outlet, Gillespie claimed he was still awaiting payment for his nine-month tenure with the PCB.
“Without going into specifics, I’m still waiting on some compensation for the work I did. Hopefully, that will be resolved soon,” Gillespie said. “It’s been a bit disappointing, but I’m optimistic it’ll get sorted out.”
In response, the PCB rejected his claims, stating that Gillespie violated the terms of his contract by resigning without completing the required four-month notice period.
“The former head coach left his role abruptly without serving the mandatory four-month notice period, which was clearly outlined in his contract,” said a PCB spokesperson.
The spokesperson emphasized that Gillespie was fully aware of the clause, which applied to both parties.
Gillespie, who was appointed as Pakistan’s Test coach in April last year on a two-year deal, resigned in December—just before the team’s Test series against South Africa—ending his stint in under eight months.
Following his resignation, Gillespie accused former cricketer Aqib Javed of trying to secure a coaching position in all formats, allegedly at the expense of Gillespie and fellow coach Gary Kirsten.
“This is hilarious. Aaqib was clearly undermining Gary and me behind the scenes, campaigning to coach across all formats. He’s a clown,” Gillespie posted on social media.
