Gaza City: Gaza’s civil defence agency reported on Friday that 10 people were killed in an overnight Israeli airstrike near the southern city of Khan Yunis.

“Our crews recovered the bodies of 10 martyrs and a large number of injured from the house of the Baraka family and neighbouring homes targeted by the Israeli occupation forces in the Bani Suhaila area, east of Khan Yunis,” said civil defence spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal in a statement on Telegram.

The Israeli military has not issued an immediate response. However, it has intensified aerial bombardments and expanded ground operations in the Gaza Strip since resuming its offensive on March 18.

On Thursday, the civil defence agency reported the deaths of at least 40 residents in Israeli strikes, with most casualties occurring in camps sheltering displaced civilians.
