One Held, One Fled After Bike Lifter Shootout with Cantt Police

Rawalpindi: A bike lifter was apprehended in an injured condition after a shootout with the Cantt Police late Tuesday night, while his accomplice managed to flee the scene.
According to a spokesman for the Rawalpindi Police, the two suspects were riding a stolen motorcycle when they were signaled to stop during a snap checking by a Cantt Police team. However, the suspects attempted to flee.
During the ensuing chase, the suspects opened fire, prompting the police to retaliate. One of the suspects, identified as Hammad, was injured in the exchange of gunfire and arrested. His accomplice fled the scene, abandoning the stolen motorcycle, which was subsequently seized by the police. Firearms were also recovered from the arrested suspect.
Senior police officers arrived at the location following the incident, and a search operation is underway to apprehend the absconding suspect. The arrested individual, who was wanted in several motorcycle theft cases across various police stations in the twin cities, was shifted to the hospital for treatment.
City Police Officer Syed Khalid Hamdani commended the Cantt Police team for their bravery in confronting the accused and making the arrest despite the dangerous situation.
