Islamabad: Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi, Beenish Fatima, emphasized the importance of following traffic rules to protect lives during a seminar at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) on Thursday.

Speaking to students, she underscored the critical need for safety measures such as wearing helmets, fastening seat belts, and avoiding mobile phone use while driving.

“Wearing a helmet or seat belt can be the difference between life and death,” she said. “Even a moment of carelessness behind the wheel can lead to fatal consequences.”

The seminar was part of an ongoing road safety awareness campaign led by the City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi, targeting educational institutions to promote safe driving practices among youth.

CTO Beenish encouraged students, particularly women, to participate in initiatives such as Women on Wheels and Empowered Women, which aim to boost female participation in road safety and mobility programs.

She also lauded NUML University for considering the launch of a driving programme to help female students learn driving skills in a safe and structured environment.

“Adhering to traffic laws reflects a civilized society,” she remarked. “Let’s join hands to make our roads safer for everyone.”

The CTO affirmed that the CTP Rawalpindi would continue organizing such awareness sessions to instill a culture of safety and responsibility, especially among young people.
