Muzaffargarh: A 15-year-old student from Fatahpur, Layyah district, has undergone a gender transition, marking a significant turning point in their life and bringing joy and acceptance from their family.
Abdul Rehman, formerly known as Urooj, was the eldest among his siblings and a student of Grade 8 at a local girls’ school. Speaking to media, Abdul Rehman shared that he began experiencing noticeable physical changes at the age of 12, prompting him to consult medical professionals.
Following a series of medical evaluations and a successful surgical procedure at the Children’s Hospital in Lahore, Urooj transitioned and now identifies as male, adopting the name Abdul Rehman.
Sharing his feelings, Abdul Rehman said, “Earlier, I used to play with my sisters and female classmates, but now I go out freely and enjoy playing with boys. I feel confident and complete.”
His family has wholeheartedly accepted his identity. “Our eldest daughter is now our son — our pride and strength,” said his parents, expressing gratitude and happiness over the transformation.
Medical experts involved in the case confirmed the procedure was conducted in accordance with medical protocols and followed after thorough diagnosis.
