Lahore Records 34°C Today, Heatwave Expected to Peak by Sunday

Lahore: Lahore is bracing for a significant heatwave, with temperatures expected to soar to 40°C next week, according to the Meteorological Department.
As of today, the city’s maximum temperature stands at 34°C, with the current temperature at 31°C. Weather experts predict that the heat will intensify starting Sunday, with no rainfall expected in the coming days.
The prevailing continental air over much of the country is contributing to hot and dry weather conditions. For the next two to three days, temperatures in Sindh and South Punjab are forecasted to remain 2 to 4°C above normal, with hot and dry conditions expected across most regions.
In the past 24 hours, dry weather prevailed across the country, though light rain and drizzle were recorded in isolated locations, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and the Pothohar region. Rainfall amounts included 6mm in Dir Upper, 1mm in Dir Lower, 5mm in Cherat, 3mm in Malam Jabba, 2mm in Kalam, and 1mm in Astore.
Yesterday, the highest recorded temperatures were in Mithi (45°C), Shaheed Benazirabad (44°C), and Tando Jam & Chhor (43°C).
Meteorologists are urging residents to take necessary precautions to cope with the upcoming heatwave.
