Multan: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle Multan has arrested two individuals for allegedly creating and disseminating AI-generated images and videos targeting government officials and state institutions.
The accused, identified as Ameer Hassan and Ahmad Ali, were apprehended during raids conducted in Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur. According to FIA officials, the suspects were involved in an anti-state campaign, using artificial intelligence to manipulate images and videos of political and government figures with the intent to damage their reputation.
Authorities claim the duo generated and shared misleading content on social media, portraying high-ranking officials in a defamatory manner. A case has been registered against them under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016, and FIA has seized their social media accounts along with other digital evidence.
Further investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of their activities and any potential networks involved in AI-driven disinformation campaigns.
