Zardari Vows Stronger Economy, Security,Global Ties on Pakistan Day

Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has urged all Pakistanis to rise above differences, reject division and negativity, and work together for a prosperous, inclusive, and just Pakistan. In his message on Pakistan Day, the president emphasized the need to address political, economic, and security challenges through unity and collective effort.

“Pakistan must navigate complex global realities, tackle economic pressures, and pursue sustainable development while continuing the fight against terrorism. Our brave Armed Forces are making immense sacrifices to safeguard the homeland,” he said.

President Zardari reaffirmed that the spirit of the Pakistan Resolution should guide the nation, recalling that ‘Unity, Faith, and Discipline’ remain the key principles for success. He congratulated the nation on Pakistan Day, highlighting the sacrifices of the founding fathers and the Pakistan Movement’s workers in achieving independence.

“We must strengthen national security, revitalize the economy, advance agriculture, ensure energy security, and create opportunities for youth. Investment in healthcare and social welfare is crucial to ensure that no Pakistani is left behind,” he stated.

Regarding foreign policy, the president emphasized peaceful coexistence, regional stability, and global cooperation. “We are committed to building stronger relationships with our neighbors and the international community based on mutual respect and shared prosperity while remaining steadfast in defending our sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he added.

President Zardari also paid tribute to the Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies for their sacrifices in protecting the country.

On the occasion, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine in their struggles for self-determination, urging the international community to ensure the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions.

“The challenges ahead are tough but not insurmountable. The resilience, hard work, and patriotism of our people will carry Pakistan toward a brighter future. Let us honor our heroes by shaping a strong, united, and prosperous Pakistan,” the president concluded.

Pakistan Day Celebrations

The nation is celebrating Pakistan Day with traditional zeal and fervor. March 23 marks the historic day in 1940 when the Pakistan Resolution was passed at Minar-e-Pakistan, calling for a separate homeland for Muslims in the subcontinent.

The day began with a 21-gun salute in Islamabad, followed by a grand parade at the President’s House, where President Zardari was the chief guest. Ambassadors from various countries also attended the ceremony, which featured contingents from the Armed Forces, as well as fly-pasts by Pakistan Air Force’s F-16 and JF-17 Thunder jets.

A change-of-guards ceremony took place at Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s mausoleum in Karachi, where Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah paid their respects. Similarly, a change-of-guards ceremony was held at the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal in Lahore, with Air Vice Marshal Akhtar Imran Sadozai as the chief guest.

Meanwhile, a grand Sehri event was organized by the Central Muslim League at Wagah Border, providing food to thousands of citizens to mark the special occasion.
