Islamabad: Senior Pakistani actress and model Farieha Altaf has strongly criticized actor Danish Taimoor for his controversial remarks about polygamy, deeming his words highly disrespectful to his talented wife, Ayeza Khan.

Another well-known star, Mishi Khan, also expressed disappointment over his comments, urging him to choose better topics to discuss on television rather than focusing on a man’s ability to marry four times.

For those who may not be aware, Danish Taimoor recently invited his wife, Ayeza Khan, to a Ramadan transmission where he made a controversial statement about polygamy, sparking widespread debate on social media. While some supported his words, the majority of people criticized him and even labeled him as a “red flag.”

During the show, Danish casually remarked that men have been granted the right to marry four times according to God’s will, though he isn’t exercising that right.

He added, “I even say this in front of my wife God has granted me the permission for four marriages, and no one can take that away from me, but I am not doing it because I love and respect my wife and want to spend my life ‘fihal’ (right now) with her.”

His repeated statement, especially the use of the word “fihal,” shocked many and sparked intense discussion.

Farieha Altaf took to social media to condemn his words, calling his statement an arrogant promotion of polygamy and expressing concern about the message he, as an influential TV personality, was sending.

Similarly, Mishi Khan voiced her opinion, urging that there are more important topics to discuss on television, rather than focusing on the notion of men marrying four times.
