Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) hosted a high-level meeting on Friday to address security concerns, environmental impacts, and approval processes related to private housing societies in the region.

The meeting, chaired by Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Abul Aamir Khattak and Director General (DG) RDA Kinza Murtaza, was attended by representatives from 79 private housing schemes.

The primary focus was on enhancing security measures within private housing societies. Commissioner Khattak emphasized that the government has raised serious concerns regarding security arrangements, particularly stressing the need for a stringent vetting process to prevent the hiring of Afghan nationals, criminals, or individuals with extremist affiliations in security teams.

He directed the implementation of a robust verification system, warning that non-compliance would lead to strict legal action.

In response, housing scheme representatives assured their cooperation, acknowledging the challenges in improving security measures. Commissioner Khattak also instructed DG RDA to oversee the implementation of these directives.

Additionally, the Commissioner confirmed that consultants are actively working on regional master plans and that all pending concerns will be resolved in due course.

DG RDA Kinza Murtaza highlighted the issue of land grabbing, urging housing societies to immediately report such cases to RDA and local law enforcement agencies. She stressed that any involvement of private security personnel in illegal activities would not be tolerated.

Representatives from 79 housing societies attended the meeting, including prominent schemes such as Bahria Town, Capital Smart City (Extension), Blue World, Avalon City, Silver City Prime, Al-Ameer City, Rawal Palm City, Rudn Enclave, Faisal Residencia, Multi Garden Ph-II, and Gulshan-e-Sehat Health Cooperative Housing Society.

Kinza Murtaza urged citizens, property developers, and housing society owners to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and obtain necessary approvals to avoid potential legal actions.

The meeting underscores RDA’s commitment to maintaining security, legal compliance, and sustainable development in Rawalpindi’s private housing sector.
