Gilgit-Baltistan: In a rare and breathtaking moment, four majestic snow leopards were spotted together in the mountainous region of Gilgit-Baltistan, highlighting the presence of these elusive big cats in their natural habitat.
Often referred to as the “ghosts of the mountains,” snow leopards play a crucial role in maintaining the ecological balance of high-altitude ecosystems. However, their survival remains threatened by habitat loss, poaching, and human-wildlife conflict, making conservation efforts vital for their protection.
Wildlife enthusiasts and conservationists stress the need for collective action to safeguard Pakistan’s rich biodiversity. The remarkable footage was captured by wildlife watcher Sakhawat Ali and Dr. Zakir Hussain, Chief Conservator of Parks and Wildlife, Forest, Wildlife, and Environment Department, Government of Gilgit-Baltistan.
