Water Supply Restored After Khanpur Canal Desilting

Rawalpindi: The desilting of the left canal of Khanpur Dam has been successfully completed ahead of schedule, leading to the full restoration of water supply to Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The desilting process, which lasted two weeks, also included essential maintenance work. The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) manages a crucial 5-kilometer section of the 18-kilometer canal, which serves as a key water supply route for the twin cities.
Speaking to APP on Wednesday, Rawalpindi Cantonment Board Chief Ali Irfan Rizvi confirmed that water supply to RCB residents had been fully restored. He added that the RCB carried out necessary maintenance using heavy machinery during the desilting process.
“The early completion of the work has significantly reduced water-related complaints from residents,” he stated.
