Haider Sultan criticizes The Legend of Maula Jatt and announced Son of Maula Jatt

Islamabad: The 2022 blockbuster The Legend of Maula Jatt reimagined the 1979 classic Maula Jatt, which was originally written by Nasir Adeeb and directed by Yunus Malik. The original film, featuring the legendary Sultan Rahi, became a milestone of Punjabi cinema.

In a recent interview, Haider Sultan, son of Sultan Rahi, shared his thoughts on the remake. He acknowledged the high production quality but felt it strayed from the original’s essence.

Haider expressed that while the film’s Hollywood-style cinematography contributed to its commercial success, it sacrificed the authenticity of the original narrative.

Haider also announced his own project, Son of Maula Jatt, which aims to honor the original’s legacy. He emphasized that this new venture would remain true to the cultural and thematic roots that made Maula Jatt iconic.
