Islamabad: Secretary General of the United Business Group (UBG) in the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI), Zafar Bakhtawari, has announced that Islamabad’s Melody Market is set for a major transformation into a modern, model business hub.
This development is expected to enhance commercial activities and contribute significantly to the city’s economy.
During a visit to the market on the invitation of Melody Market President Azhar Iqbal, Bakhtawari emphasized the strong support from the business community and traders for the market’s upgradation.
According to a press release issued here, the modernization project is being facilitated by the government of Azerbaijan, given Islamabad’s status as a sister city of Baku.
Bakhtawari highlighted that Azerbaijan’s assistance is playing a crucial role in the market’s transformation. However, he urged traders to upgrade their shops’ internal infrastructure and adopt a modern shopping culture to improve customer experience and boost foot traffic.
He stated that the market’s development work is expected to be completed by April 2025, following which a grand inauguration ceremony will be held. He also extended special gratitude to Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa for his active involvement and efforts in expediting the project’s completion.
On this occasion, Melody Market President Azhar Iqbal reaffirmed full cooperation with the CDA to modernize the market. He welcomed Azerbaijan’s support and appreciated the CDA chairman’s dedication to the project.
Iqbal also called for upgrading and reorganizing the Food Mall within Melody Market, along with improved facilities, designated parking areas, and enhancements in water supply, sewerage, and other basic infrastructure to provide maximum convenience to traders and shoppers.
The event was attended by ICCI Executive Committee members Rohail Anwar Butt, Malik Mohsin Khalid, Khalid Chaudhry, Babar Chaudhry, Nisar Mirza, Melody Market General Secretary Jamil Qureshi, and other distinguished personalities.
