Jerusalem: Israeli authorities have delayed the scheduled release of Palestinian prisoners on Saturday, which was part of an exchange deal following the release of six hostages from Gaza. The move has prompted Hamas to accuse Israel of a “blatant violation” of the truce agreement.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to hold a security consultation on Saturday evening, according to two Israeli officials.

“Once the security consultation concludes, a decision will be made regarding the next steps of the ceasefire agreement with Hamas,” said one official, speaking on condition of anonymity.

After the release of the six hostages, Netanyahu reiterated Israel’s commitment to securing the return of all captives, stating that the government would “continue acting decisively in order to bring all of our hostages back home.”
