Islamabad: On the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, the people of Pakistan and prominent political figures reaffirmed their steadfast commitment to the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, calling for stronger international action and an end to India’s oppressive occupation.
A conference organized by the All Parties International Kashmir Coordination Committee (APIKCC) in Birmingham brought together activists, community leaders, and political figures who highlighted the ongoing human rights violations in Indian-occupied Kashmir.
Professor Dr Zafar Hussain Zafar from Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), stressed the need for international advocacy and support for Kashmiris, urging global intervention to end India’s military occupation.
Human rights activists and religious figures condemned India’s policies under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, particularly focusing on the revocation of Article 370 in 2019 and the broader Hindutva agenda, which they claim seeks to marginalize religious minorities in the region.
Defence Minister, Khawaja Asif, echoed this sentiment, stressing the country’s unwavering support for Kashmir’s self-determination and urging the international community to hold India accountable for its actions.
He called for the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions, which advocate for a free and impartial plebiscite, and condemned India’s unilateral measures that have exacerbated the crisis.
Rana Sanaullah, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, reinforced that “Kashmir’s struggle is Pakistan’s pride,” and vowed to continue raising awareness globally and holding India accountable for its atrocities. He paid tribute to the bravery of Kashmiri citizens and emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to their freedom.
Governor of KP, Faisal Karim Kundi, and Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, also joined in expressing solidarity with the Kashmiri people.
Maryam Nawaz urged the United Nations and other international organizations to take action against the ongoing human rights violations, stressing that peace in the region cannot be achieved without resolving the Kashmir issue.
Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, paid tribute to the relentless struggle of the Kashmiri people, expressing confidence that their sacrifices would eventually lead to their freedom.
He assured the people of Jammu and Kashmir that Pakistan would continue to stand firmly by their side, offering political, diplomatic, and moral support until their aspirations for self-determination are realized.
As Pakistan marks Kashmir Solidarity Day, the nation remains resolute in its commitment to the Kashmiri cause, with its leadership continuing to push for international recognition of Kashmir’s right to self-determination and an end to India’s military occupation.
