Peshawar: After nearly two decades, Peshawar’s Arbab Niaz Stadium is set to host Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches, marking a significant revival of cricket in the region.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that two PSL matches will be held at the newly renovated stadium in April 2025.

The last international match at Arbab Niaz Stadium was played between Pakistan and India in 2006. Since then, the venue has undergone extensive renovations to meet international standards.

Recent inspections by International Cricket Council (ICC) representatives have assessed the ground, pavilion, player routes, and hotel accommodations for foreign players.

To ensure the safety and convenience of players and spectators, authorities are implementing comprehensive security measures.

These include shuttle services for fans, drone surveillance, and the construction of a helipad near the stadium. Due to the absence of floodlights, both matches are scheduled as daytime events.

The return of high-profile cricket matches to Peshawar reflects the collaborative efforts of the PCB, Peshawar Zalmi, and the KP government. This development is expected to boost local enthusiasm for the sport and contribute to the region’s socio-economic growth.
