Two Criminals Sentenced in Robbery-Murder Case

Islamabad: A local court on Saturday sentenced two criminals involved in a robbery-murder case, following a diligent investigation and strong prosecution by the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police. One of the suspects was awarded the death penalty, while the other received a life imprisonment sentence.
According to a public relations officer, the incident occurred in January 2024 within the jurisdiction of Sumbal Police Station. During the robbery, Rizwan Gohar and Kamal Ahmed shot and killed citizen Waseem Akram when he resisted.
The court sentenced Rizwan Gohar to death and imposed a fine of Rs. 600,000 for the murder. Kamal Ahmed was handed a life sentence and ordered to pay Rs. 500,000 in compensation.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Ali Raza praised the efforts of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation and the investigation and legal teams. “This conviction is a victory for justice and a testament to effective policing,” he stated.
The deceased’s mother expressed her gratitude to the police, saying, “Your efforts have restored our faith in justice and given us hope during this difficult time.”
