Islamabad: Minister for Law, Justice, and Human Rights Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar informed the National Assembly on Tuesday that the gender gap between male and female voters had decreased to 7.4 percent in 2024, a significant drop from 11.8 percent in 2018.
Responding to a Calling Attention Notice, the minister stated that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), in collaboration with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), had identified gender gaps in 113 districts across the country. He further noted that the gap had been reduced to less than 10 percent in 83 of these districts.
Senator Tarar emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting ECP and NADRA in addressing this issue and expressed optimism that the gender gap would continue to narrow through their joint efforts.
In another development, Parliamentary Secretary for National Health Services Nelson Azeem, responding to a separate Calling Attention Notice, assured the National Assembly that there was no shortage of medical equipment in federal capital hospitals, including essential items such as ventilators, ultrasound machines, and MRI testing equipment.
He confirmed that facilities like PIMS and Polyclinic hospitals were adequately equipped to meet patient needs.
