Chancellor Orders Action Against Violent Punjab University Students

Lahore: Punjab Governor and Chancellor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has directed strict disciplinary action against activists of a student organization involved in injuring three students during an incident at Punjab University.
The governor visited Punjab University on Tuesday and held a meeting with Vice Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Ali. Speaking on the occasion, he stated that violence on university campuses is unacceptable under any circumstances.
He assured that the Chancellor’s Office would fully support efforts to establish a peaceful and conducive environment for education in universities.
Governor Saleem Haider instructed the Vice Chancellor to ensure legal action against those responsible for the violence, emphasizing that a peaceful atmosphere is essential for educational progress.
Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali informed the governor that the university’s disciplinary committee had already taken action, expelling nine students in the first phase. Additionally, FIRs have been registered against three students directly involved in the clashes.
The governor expressed concern for the injured students, referring to university students as akin to his own children, and inquired about their well-being.
Prominent figures present during the visit included General Secretary PPP Central Punjab Syed Hassan Murtaza, Chaudhry Aslam Gul, Ahsan Rizvi, Faisal Mir, Sibt Hassan, and several students.
