Islamabad: Cold and dry weather is expected to continue across most parts of the country, with rain and snowfall anticipated in hilly regions, including Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and northwestern Balochistan, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

A westerly weather system is currently affecting the western and upper regions of Pakistan, bringing precipitation to these areas.

Foggy conditions are expected to prevail in parts of Punjab and upper Sindh during the morning and nighttime hours, potentially reducing visibility and creating challenges for commuters.

In the past 24 hours, cold and partly cloudy weather was observed in most areas, while scattered rain and snowfall were recorded in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.

Significant rainfall was reported in:

  • Pattan and Malam Jabba: 12 mm
  • Chitral and Upper Dir: 9 mm
  • Muzaffarabad: 7 mm
  • Astore: 10 mm

Snowfall measurements included:

  • Kalam: 9 inches
  • Malam Jabba: 7 inches
  • Astore: 2 inches

The lowest temperatures recorded during this period were:

  • Leh: -9°C
  • Skardu and Gopis: -5°C
  • Hunza and Astore: -2°C

The PMD has advised travelers to remain cautious, particularly in foggy areas and mountainous regions, where reduced visibility and slippery roads due to snow may pose safety risks.
