Deadline for ICC Champions Trophy Preliminary Squad Ends Today
News Desk
Islamabad: Today marks the final date for submitting preliminary squads for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy, as per ICC regulations requiring team names to be submitted one month before the start of the sports parade, scheduled for February 12.
Sources indicate that Pakistan will submit the squad names to meet the procedural requirements but does not plan to publicly announce the preliminary lineup. The final squad will be determined closer to the tournament, with Saim Ayub’s fitness being a key factor in the decision.

Saim Ayub’s participation in the Champions Trophy remains contingent on his recovery, and only players from the tri-series squad will be considered for the Champions Trophy. The squad is expected to be finalized by February 11, after which ICC approval will be mandatory.
Pakistan is set to play a tri-series before the Champions Trophy, and no major changes are anticipated in the lineup that recently played against South Africa. However, sources suggest that Fakhar Zaman is likely to be included in the tri-series squad.
The final squad announcement will depend on fitness updates and the tri-series performance, as Pakistan gears up for the Champions Trophy.
