Female Traffic Constables Deployed on Roads in Quetta
News Desk
Quetta: In a major move to encourage women and balance gender-based discrimination in Balochistan, comparatively a conservative province with many cultural barriers, the Balochistan police have deployed female traffic constables on roads in Quetta city to facilitate and deal with women commuters.
It is the first time that the Balochistan police have started recruiting female constables, a private news channel reported on Friday.
It was the need of the hour, as male constables could not deal with female drivers due to cultural sensitivity.
According to police sources, some women were also found driving non-custom-paid vehicles and using tinted windows. It was very difficult for male officers to stop and challan female drivers.
The addition of female traffic sergeants will also promote gender equality in the police department, the sources added.
