Islamabad: Microsoft has introduced a new feature to improve file sharing between iPhones and Windows PCs, addressing long-standing compatibility issues.

Currently available in the beta version of the Phone Link application, the feature aims to make transferring files between iPhone users and Windows devices more seamless.

Phone Link, a Microsoft app that connects iOS and Android devices to Windows computers, already allows users to manage notifications, calls, and more. Now, it offers a smoother file-sharing experience.

According to a recent blog post, the update allows Windows users to select their iPhone as an option when sharing files. The “Link to Windows” option appears as a sharing extension on the iPhone, making the process simpler.

To share files from an iPhone to a Windows PC:

  1. Select the desired file(s).
  2. Tap the “share” icon.
  3. Choose “Link to Windows.”
  4. Select the target device.

To send a file from a Windows PC to an iPhone:

  1. Select the file(s) to share.
  2. Right-click and select “Share.”
  3. Choose “My Phone.”

However, this feature is currently available only to members of the Windows Insider Program and requires an iPhone running iOS 16 or later, as well as the Link to Windows app version 1.24112.73 or newer.
