Abbottabad: The Hazara division is currently experiencing a severe cold wave, with several cities and towns facing freezing temperatures. Abbottabad has been particularly affected, with the mercury dropping to -1°C.
The upper regions of Hazara are experiencing some of the harshest cold conditions, with temperatures plunging as low as -4°C. Due to heavy snowfall, the MNJ road from Naran to Babusar Top has been closed to all vehicular traffic.
Kaghan and neighboring areas are facing power outages, as the electricity transmission lines were damaged during last week’s snowstorm and have not yet been restored. Additionally, Galyat received the first snowfall of the winter season yesterday.
While the low gas pressure has improved, residents are now using gas heaters and ovens for warmth and cooking.
According to the meteorological department, the severe weather conditions are expected to persist for the next few days, with more snowfall and rain anticipated in the upper parts of the Hazara division.
