Islamabad: The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has issued a strong warning to the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Normalization Committee (NC) over its recent actions, which PSB claims exceed the committee’s authorized scope.

The warning follows the NC’s announcement of an extraordinary congress meeting scheduled for November 19, 2024, which PSB warns could destabilize the governance of football in Pakistan.

The NC, chaired by Haroon Malik, was originally appointed to handle the daily operations of the PFF, including club registration and ensuring the transparency of elections.

However, PSB argues that the NC is now attempting to assume legislative powers, effectively positioning itself as a policymaking body.

PSB also criticized Malik for presenting himself as the ‘President of the Pakistan Football Federation’ in official communications, a title he has assumed without FIFA’s mandate.

This has led to speculation that Malik may be maneuvering for a permanent position within the PFF, raising concerns about a potential conflict of interest.

In a letter to the NC, PSB emphasized that the NC’s attempt to amend the constitution by calling the congress meeting without a legally recognized PFF President, and its failure to notify all provincial associations, undermines the legitimacy of the process.

PSB concluded the letter by warning the NC to cease exceeding its mandate, threatening formal escalation to FIFA if these actions continue.
