Islamabad: Pakistan is moving towards establishing state-of-the-art information technology (IT) parks to foster innovation and generate employment opportunities for young professionals.

An official from the Ministry of Information Technology revealed that the foundation stone for an IT park in Islamabad, supported by Korea, has been laid in Chak Shahzad as part of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s ‘Digital Pakistan’ vision.

The Rs 13.72 billion project is expected to address infrastructure gaps in the IT sector, promote research and development, facilitate technology commercialization, and enhance IT exports. The park will provide space for start-ups, small-to-medium enterprises, and include an industry-academia linkage center, testing laboratories, and classrooms.

This initiative is part of the broader plan to elevate Pakistan’s IT exports to $25 billion, with various institutions working together to achieve this goal.
