Jerusalem: French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot expressed optimism about the possibility of ending Israel’s wars in Gaza and Lebanon following the election of Donald Trump as the US president.
Speaking in Jerusalem, Barrot highlighted the “window” of opportunity for a resolution, fueled by Trump’s desire to end the prolonged conflicts in the Middle East.
Barrot, alongside Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz, noted that Israel’s recent military successes could provide leverage in diplomatic efforts.
He emphasized that a sustainable solution would require more than military victories, stating, “Force alone will not be enough to guarantee Israel’s security.”
Barrot stressed the importance of a political solution and called for a ceasefire, the release of all hostages, and a massive humanitarian aid influx into Gaza. He expressed hope that these steps would pave the way for long-term peace in the region.
