‘The Lamp of Diwali Awakens Love’

Hyderabad: In a vibrant celebration of Diwali, the Hindu community in Sanghar District came together with local officials and leaders to mark the festival of lights, underscoring Sindh’s legacy of interfaith harmony and shared cultural heritage.
The event, organized by PPP leader Rajesh Kumar Harsadani at his residence, saw the participation of notable figures from the political, social, and business spheres, symbolizing a shared commitment to unity and peace.
Prominent attendees included Sanghar Deputy Commissioner Dr. Imran-ul-Hassan Khawaja, District Council Chairman Syed Riaz Hussain Shah Khurasani, Senior Superintendent of Police Ghulam Nabi Keerio, Municipal Chairman Rashid Islam Mughal, and other key officials.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Dr Imran Khawaja emphasized the unifying power of festivals like Diwali, noting that the celebration reflects the spirit of interfaith solidarity.
“Sindh has long embraced a tradition of religious coexistence, and by celebrating each other’s festivals, we strengthen bonds across communities,” he remarked.
Chairman District Council Syed Riaz Shah and SSP Ghulam Nabi Keerio echoed these sentiments, observing that Sindh has long been a land where people of various faiths have coexisted peacefully, sharing in each other’s celebrations and upholding mutual respect.
PPP leader Rajesh Kumar Harsadani expressed his gratitude for the enthusiastic participation in the Diwali festivities.
“Diwali is a time of lights and peace. We share our joy by lighting lamps and decorating our homes, and we are glad to celebrate this festival together,” he stated.
In a show of solidarity, Father Nazir Christian from Sanghar Church joined the celebrations, extending warm Diwali greetings to the Hindu community. The evening concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony, symbolizing goodwill among the various communities present.
In a related gesture of inclusivity, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif extended Diwali greetings to the Hindu community, sharing her hopes for unity and compassion.
In her Diwali message, she remarked, “The lamp of Diwali awakens love,” and announced the launch of a Special Minority Card to be introduced on December 20, along with a Minority Virtual Police Station under the Mahfooz Punjab Vision initiative to enhance support and security for minorities.
The celebration of Diwali in Sanghar, with participation from diverse communities and leaders, served as a reminder of Pakistan’s rich cultural fabric and the enduring spirit of interfaith harmony.
