Seven Martyrs, 20 Others Injured in Mastung Blast

Quetta: A bomb explosion near Girls’ High School at Civil Hospital Chowk in Mastung district on Friday morning claimed the lives of seven people, including five schoolchildren and a policeman. Twenty others sustained injuries in the blast.

According to local authorities, the explosion occurred near a police van positioned at a busy chowk close to the Civil Hospital and the girls’ school, appearing to target the police vehicle. Police and rescue teams quickly reached the scene, transporting the injured and deceased to Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Raisani Memorial Hospital and Mastung District Headquarters Hospital. Eleven critically injured individuals were later shifted to Quetta Trauma Centre.

Hospital sources confirmed that three children and a policeman were killed instantly, with three other injured victims succumbing to their wounds during treatment. The blast destroyed a police mobile van and caused damage to several vehicles and rickshaws in the vicinity.

Naqvi Vows Justice

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed strong condemnation of the Mastung explosion that resulted in the deaths of three children and a police officer. In a statement, he extended his heartfelt condolences to the grieving families and denounced the attack as “an act of brutality,” asserting that “targeting children is a heinous crime that no one should tolerate.”

Naqvi emphasized that those responsible for such violence would face no leniency, stating, “The beasts who play with the lives of innocent children do not deserve any compassion.” 

He assured the families of the martyred that the government stands in solidarity with them during this painful time, and extended prayers for the swift recovery of the injured.

The incident highlights ongoing security challenges in Balochistan, with authorities pledging to bring the perpetrators to justice.
