Kazan, Russia: Chinese President Xi Jinping praised the deepening strategic cooperation between China and Russia during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the BRICS summit in Kazan on Tuesday.
“The world is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century, and the international situation is chaotic and intertwined,” Xi remarked. He emphasized the “profound friendship” between China and Russia, stating that their countries had “continuously deepened and expanded comprehensive strategic coordination and practical cooperation.”
Xi highlighted that the partnership between Moscow and Beijing has provided “strong impetus” for the development and modernization of both nations, while also contributing to international equity and justice.
China and Russia have strengthened their alliance since Russia’s military offensive in Ukraine, raising concerns in the West as both countries seek to expand their global influence. In early 2022, they declared a “no limits” partnership, with China notably refraining from condemning Russia’s actions in Ukraine.
