Hundreds of Protected Wild Birds Recovered in Punjab

Lahore: On the orders of Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, hundreds of protected wild birds were recovered from various locations across Punjab, including Lahore, during a series of operations carried out by the Wildlife Department.

According to official sources, 13 suspects were arrested in connection with the illegal trade and hunting of wildlife. Ten of the suspects were fined over Rs. 2 lakh, and three challans will be submitted to local courts. The operations targeted areas in Lahore, Narowal, Bahawalnagar, and Mianwali.

In Lahore, two bird dealers were apprehended, leading to the recovery of a large number of parrots and other birds.

The recovered birds were released back into their natural habitat, while the parrots were transferred to Jallo Park for safe keeping.

Additionally, eight individuals involved in the hunting of ducks, quails, rabbits, and wild pigeons were arrested in the Lahore region.

This crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal wildlife trafficking and protect endangered species across the province.
