Peshawar: More than 40 sheep and goats were killed after a train hit a herd in the Hakimabad area of Nowshera district, local administration reported on Thursday.

Locals claimed that stray dogs were chasing the herd, causing the animals to run onto the railway track, resulting in the tragic incident. The owners of the sheep and goats have suffered significant financial losses and are demanding assistance from the government.

Residents expressed concerns about the remains of the dead animals lying near the railway track, causing unpleasant odors and posing environmental hazards.

They have also called for the removal of stray dogs and wild animals in the area, which they believe threaten both people and domestic animals. Railway police and local administration have visited the site to assess the damages and determine the cause of the accident.
