Pakistan-China Sign 13 Accords to Enhance Strategic Partnership

Islamabad: Pakistan and China on Monday signed 13 agreements aimed at further strengthening cooperation across multiple sectors, including security, education, agriculture, human resource development, and science and technology.

The agreements were signed following delegation-level talks between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chinese Premier Li Qiang.

The leaders discussed various aspects of Pakistan-China relations, including economic and trade ties, as well as cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Among the signed agreements were the Handing Over Certificate of the Smart Classrooms Project, inked by Pakistan’s Economic Affairs Minister Ahad Khan Cheema and Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao, as well as the minutes of the 13th meeting of the CPEC Joint Coordination Committee and the 7th Joint Working Group on Gwadar.

Pakistan and China also signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to strengthen cooperation in fields such as information and communication, flood control, security, and human resource development. Additionally, an agreement was reached on the co-production of television programs.

A Currency Swap Agreement and a Protocol on Quarantine Requirements for the export of donkey meat to China were also part of the accords signed during the ceremony.
