Karachi: Light showers were recorded in the city early this morning, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), which has forecast hot weather for the next 24 hours with cloudy skies and intermittent drizzle.

The PMD noted that the minimum temperature in Karachi today was 27°C, while the maximum is expected to rise to between 36°C and 38°C. With humidity levels at 68%, northeast winds are blowing lightly across the metropolis.

“Today’s weather is anticipated to be cloudy with intermittent drizzle throughout the day,” stated the Met Office, adding that conditions are likely to remain partly cloudy tomorrow as well.

The PMD also reported that a severe low-pressure system over the central Arabian Sea has intensified into a depression. This system, which caused the early morning showers in Sindh’s provincial capital, has moved west and northwest over the past 12 hours. It is currently located 1,020 kilometers southwest of Karachi, 1,010 kilometers from Ormara, 1,030 kilometers from Gwadar, and 770 kilometers southeast of Masirah, Oman.

The system is expected to continue its movement toward the Oman coast, with winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour around its center and gusts up to 50 kilometers per hour.

While the PMD has stated that there is currently no threat to any coastal areas of Pakistan, it has advised fishermen to refrain from venturing into deep waters.
