England Makes History with Record 823 Runs Against Pakistan

Multan: England has made cricketing history by becoming the first team to score over 800 runs in an innings against Pakistan.

On the fourth day of the first Test at Multan Cricket Stadium, England declared their innings at a staggering 823/7, setting several new records.

This extraordinary total surpassed the previous highest score against Pakistan, set by India in 2004, when they scored 675/5, also in Multan.

England’s 823 now stands as the highest team score ever against Pakistan and marks only the fourth instance in Test cricket history where a team has surpassed 800 runs in a single innings. The last time such a feat was achieved was by Sri Lanka, who scored 952/6 against India in 1997.

England has now joined this elite list twice before, with totals of 903 against Australia in 1938 and 849 against the West Indies in 1930.

For Pakistan, this marks the highest total they have ever conceded in a Test, previously held by the West Indies with 790/3 in 1958.

England’s innings was highlighted by a remarkable 412-run partnership between Joe Root and Harry Brook, breaking England’s previous record for the highest Test partnership of 411, set by Peter May and Colin Cowdrey against the West Indies in 1957.

Although Sri Lanka’s Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara hold the all-time record for the largest Test partnership with 624 runs against South Africa in 2006, Root and Brook’s historic stand will undoubtedly go down as one of the great moments in Test cricket.

England’s dominance in this Test has firmly etched their name into the record books, leaving Pakistan facing a formidable challenge as the match progresses.
