19 Miners Killed in Attack on Coal Mines in Balochistan’s Dukki Area

Islamabad: In a brutal attack, at least 19 miners were killed and eight others wounded when unidentified armed men targeted coal mines in the Dukki area of Balochistan in the early hours of Friday.

According to Dukki District Chairman Haji Khair Ullah Nasir, the attackers used hand grenades and rocket launchers, causing severe damage.

In addition to killing the miners, the assailants set fire to 10 engines and other mining equipment before fleeing the scene.

Rescue teams, along with police and Frontier Corps (FC), reached the site after the incident. Police sources fear the death toll may rise as several of the injured are in critical condition.

So far, eight injured individuals have been transferred to the hospital for treatment.

Heavy contingents of police and FC have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to apprehend the attackers.
