New York: A new poll has revealed that Vice President Kamala Harris has gained a slim lead over former President Donald Trump in the US presidential race, as both candidates ramp up their efforts to engage voters just four weeks before the election.

According to the national poll conducted by Siena College and The New York Times, Harris leads Trump by 49 percent to 46 percent among registered voters. Respondents indicated that they perceive Harris as more capable of representing change and caring about their needs, while Trump was viewed as the stronger leader.

In mid-September, the same Times/Siena poll showed the candidates tied at 47 percent following a contentious presidential debate. The current polling results align closely with an aggregate of national polling compiled by RealClearPolitics.com, which also shows Harris ahead by two percentage points.

In the key battleground states that are likely to determine the election’s outcome, the competition remains exceedingly tight, highlighting the intense rivalry between the two candidates as they work to sway the undecided voters.
