Islamabad: Pakistani mountaineer Shehroze Kashif, at just 22 years old, has made history by becoming the youngest climber from Pakistan to successfully summit all 14 of the world’s peaks that rise above 8,000 meters.
Known as the “Broad Boy,” Shehroze achieved this remarkable milestone today by reaching the summit of Shishapangma, which stands at 8,027 meters.
With this achievement, Shehroze joins fellow Pakistani Sirbaz Khan as only the second individual from the country to have climbed all 14 of the world’s highest mountains. Sirbaz reached this landmark just last week when he also summited Shishapangma, becoming the first Pakistani to complete the challenge.
Shehroze’s mountaineering journey began in 2019 when, at the age of 17, he scaled Broad Peak, which is 8,047 meters tall. This early success launched him into the international spotlight.
In 2021, he successfully summited Mount Everest, Manaslu, and K2, and in 2022, he continued his impressive streak with climbs of Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum I, and Gasherbrum II. Last year, he further solidified his reputation by conquering Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Cho Oyu.
Notably, Shehroze attempted to summit Shishapangma last year but was unable to complete the climb due to an accident. Reflecting on his latest achievement, Shehroze shared, “I knew this was going to be extremely tough, and the risk of losing my life was real, but I stayed focused on my goal.
Now, standing here, I realize that this success isn’t just about climbing mountains; it’s about conquering fear, doubt, and limitations. For me, this is nothing short of a miracle.”
