Islamabad: In a significant operation, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police, in collaboration with teams from Sumbal Police Station and the Special Sexual Investigation and Operations Unit (SSIOU), arrested two individuals accused of raping a woman. The arrests took place on Wednesday.
According to a police statement, the victim, a resident of G-12 Islamabad, filed a written complaint at the Parthana Sumbal Police Station.
She reported that Tahir Abbas had deceived her into believing he could resolve her personal issues through taweez (amulets) and spiritual guidance. Using this pretext, Tahir Abbas, along with his accomplice Taswar Abbas, allegedly took her to a secluded room and raped her.
The victim further stated that Tahir Abbas exploited her fears and manipulated her into following his instructions, causing her severe mental distress. She also revealed that several other women had fallen prey to the accused’s deceit, under the guise of black magic.
Following the complaint and given the seriousness of the situation, a case was registered under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Utilizing both scientific methods and human intelligence, the Sumbal Police Station and SSIOU teams successfully apprehended the accused.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Ali Raza assured that the accused would be presented before the court with solid evidence to ensure they face the full weight of the law.
He further emphasized, “Women and children are a red line, and any individual involved in rape or violence will not escape the grip of the law.”
