Shan Masood’s 151, Shafique’s Century Power Pakistan to 328/4

Multan:  Pakistan asserted dominance on the opening day of the first Test against England at the Multan Cricket Stadium, finishing the day at a strong 328/4, thanks to centuries from Captain Shan Masood and Abdullah Shafique.

After winning the toss, Shan Masood chose to bat first, but Pakistan had an early setback when opener Saim Ayub was dismissed for just 4 runs, leaving the team at 8/1.

However, the situation quickly turned around as Shan Masood and Abdullah Shafique steadied the innings with a formidable 253-run partnership.

Masood was in exceptional form, reaching his century with 10 boundaries and 2 sixes, and eventually scored a brilliant 151 before being dismissed. Shafique, displaying great resilience, crafted a well-earned century as well, scoring 102 before being caught.

England struggled to break the partnership, but they finally dismissed Shafique at 255/2, followed shortly by Masood at 257/3. Skipper Babar Azam added 30 runs to the total before being dismissed late in the day.

At stumps, Saud Shakeel remained unbeaten on 35, with Naseem Shah yet to score. Pakistan will be looking to build on this solid start when play resumes on the second day.

For England, Gus Atkinson claimed two wickets, while Chris Woakes and Jack Leach took one wicket each. England will be eager to wrap up Pakistan’s innings quickly on day two and regain control of the match.
