Rawalpindi: The week-long Anti-Dengue and Smog awareness campaign, along with a comprehensive cleanliness drive launched by the Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC), is currently underway across the city.

According to an RWMC spokesperson, the drive aims to clean streets, roads, and public spaces across all tehsils of the district to prevent the breeding of dengue larvae. Residents are being educated through pamphlets, banners, and social media platforms to maintain clean surroundings in order to curb the spread of the virus.

Special attention is being given to water-accumulated areas to stop the breeding of dengue larvae. People are also being informed about the life cycle, symptoms, treatment, and preventive measures for dengue.

The spokesperson highlighted that the goal of the campaign is to educate the public about essential cleanliness standards, encouraging them to adopt these practices to keep their surroundings clean and virus-free.

To eradicate dengue larvae, RWMC is following a comprehensive Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and action plan, with daily reports being submitted to the district administration and the Punjab government.

Residents are urged to monitor junkyards, schools, and under-construction buildings, which often harbor stagnant water, creating breeding grounds for dengue larvae. In case of any complaints, citizens are encouraged to call the helpline at 1139 for prompt resolution.
