PTI Withdraws Application for Rawalpindi Rally, Plans Protest Instead
News Desk
Rawalpindi: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has officially withdrawn its application for a rally scheduled in Rawalpindi, as confirmed by party leadership.
The petition was filed with the Lahore High Court’s Rawalpindi Bench but has now been retracted.
The decision follows the cancellation of the planned rally on September 28 by PTI founders, who cited concerns that both the administration and the courts would not permit the event to take place. Instead, PTI has announced plans for a protest in Rawalpindi on the same date.
One of the party leaders stated, “We know the administration will not allow the rally, but we still expect people to come out. We are withdrawing the petition and opting for a protest instead.”
In a related development, police conducted raids on the residences of several local PTI leaders in Rawalpindi in connection with the upcoming protest. Notable figures targeted included Shehryar Riaz, Raja Basharat, Atif Riaz, and Rashid Hafeez.
However, no arrests were made as the leaders were reportedly not present at their homes during the raids.
PTI’s protest in Rawalpindi is set for September 28, despite the withdrawal of the rally application.
