Cycling for Peace in Islamabad

Islamabad: In a spirited celebration of International Peace Day, the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) hosted a Peace Cycling Rally on Saturday, promoting harmony and fostering community spirit among diverse groups. 

Themed “Cultivating Culture for Peace,” the event drew participants of all ages, including families and differently-abled individuals, transforming the streets into a vibrant display of solidarity and hope.

Beginning at F-9 Jinnah Park, the rally attracted enthusiastic cyclists, each pedaling with a shared purpose. NACTA’s Director General, Saleha Zakir Shah, addressed the crowd, emphasizing the vital role of collective action in building a peaceful society.

“Peace is the cornerstone of development,” she stated, urging citizens to actively contribute to a harmonious Pakistan. She reiterated NACTA’s commitment to initiatives that reflect the country’s true identity on the global stage, saying, “Together, we can cultivate a culture of peace and resilience.”

The rally celebrated peace and harmony while highlighting inclusivity, with special recognition given to differently-abled cyclists for their inspiring contributions. Senior NACTA officials, including Senior Analyst Adnan Khaliq Bhatti, participated, underscoring the event’s significance.

As the rally progressed through the city, the atmosphere was filled with energy—families riding side by side, children laughing, and community members cheering each other on. Local schools and community organizations participated, showcasing banners and art displays with messages of peace and collaboration.

The route meandered through some of Islamabad’s most picturesque areas, inviting onlookers to join the festivities.

Participants engaged with local residents, sharing stories and discussing ways to promote peace within their neighborhoods, enriching the event with meaningful dialogue.

The event culminated in a heartfelt ceremony, where honorary certificates and caps were awarded to participants in recognition of their commitment to peace and community engagement.

Local artists performed music resonating with themes of unity and hope, further enhancing the experience.

Attendees expressed gratitude for NACTA’s initiative, noting its positive impact on enhancing security and promoting understanding among diverse communities.
