Lahore: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday remanded two main accused, Hassan Shah and Rafique alias Fiki, into police custody for seven days in connection with the playwright Khalilur Rehman Qamar honey trap case.

Earlier, the police presented both accused before ATC Judge Irfan Haider following an identification parade. The investigating officer informed the court that both accused had been identified during the process, with Khalilur Rehman Qamar confirming their identities in jail. He requested a 20-day physical remand for further investigation, but the court granted a 7-day remand, ordering the accused to be produced again on September 10 upon expiry of the remand period.

In a related development, the court extended the judicial remand of another accused, Amna Urooj, and instructed the police to expedite the completion of the challan against her. The investigating officer reported that the challan was still being prepared and requested additional time.

The alleged attempted kidnapping of Khalilur Rehman Qamar surfaced in early July, leading to the arrest of nearly all the suspects by the police. The Sundar police had registered a case of robbery and abduction against several accused based on a complaint lodged by Khalilur Rehman Qamar.
