Boat Tragedy Leaves 20 Burmese Missing

Istanbul: At least 20 Burmese individuals are still missing after a boat capsized in Myanmar. The boat, carrying 40 passengers from Laos to Myanmar, encountered engine failure on the swollen Mekong River late Monday, according to Thai PBS, citing witnesses.

Nearby boat operators were able to rescue approximately 20 passengers, but 20 others remain unaccounted for. The boat was en route to Tachileik in Myanmar, located across the Chiang Rai border province of Thailand.
