Islamabad: Boneless Mutton Karahi is a beloved dish in Pakistani and Indian cuisine, celebrated for its rich, spicy flavor. This dish features tender pieces of boneless mutton simmered in a robust tomato-based gravy, seasoned with aromatic spices. It is commonly served with naan or rice and is a popular choice for special occasions and family gatherings.

Mutton Boneless Karahi

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1 tbsp chopped ginger garlic
  • 1 kg boneless mutton, cut into pieces
  • 1 ½ cups sliced tomatoes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp crushed black pepper
  • 1 tbsp crushed cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 ½ cups hot water
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 cup halved green chilies
  • Ginger (julienne) for garnish
  • Green chilies (sliced) for garnish

Directions:

  1. Heat oil in a pot over medium heat. Add chopped ginger garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  2. Add the boneless mutton to the pot and cook until it changes color.
  3. Stir in the sliced tomatoes, salt, black pepper, crushed cumin seeds, turmeric powder, and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Pour in the hot water, cover the pot, and cook until the mutton is tender and fully cooked.
  5. Remove the lid, add the yogurt, and continue cooking until the oil separates from the gravy.
  6. Add the halved green chilies and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  7. Transfer the dish to a hot sizzler plate and garnish with julienned ginger and sliced green chilies.
