King Charles Honors Composer Errollyn as Master of King’s Music

Islamabad: King Charles III’s office has recently shared intriguing details about the monarch’s latest news following a rare public appearance by Princess Kate and Prince William at a service in Balmoral.

At 75, King Charles celebrated his first special appointment of his reign by naming composer and singer-songwriter Errollyn Wallen as the Master of the King’s Music.

Buckingham Palace released a captivating photo of the King looking radiant while performing his duties, amidst reports of Princess Kate’s appearance with the royals. The picture showcased the King’s enthusiasm for his new role as he honored Wallen’s achievements.

This announcement coincides with Princess Kate’s attendance at a service at Crathie Church on the Balmoral Estate, accompanied by her husband, Prince William, and their eldest son, Prince George. 

This marked Kate’s first public appearance since Wimbledon.

Wallen expressed her gratitude for the appointment, calling it “a privilege and a great honor” and expressing her eagerness to promote music and music-making. She was previously recognized with an MBE by Charles in 2007 and a CBE by the Princess Royal in 2021 for her contributions to music.

The Belize-born British musician, known for her work in the London 2012 Paralympic Games and her distinction as the first black woman to have a piece featured in the Proms, described her new role with excitement.

Last year, she was ranked among the top 20 most performed living classical composers and became the first woman to win an Ivor Novello Award for classical music.
