Parents Find Evening Shift in Govt Schools Inconvenient

Islamabad: Admission in the downtown government educational institutions of the federal capital has always been a nerve-wracking trial for parents, especially when they are compelled to admit their children in the evening shift and suffer for the whole year.
Poor and middle-class families were once again forced to enroll their children in the evening shifts of model colleges this year because morning shift institutions (both FG and Model) refused new admissions under the guise of overcrowding in the classrooms.

According to an official source, the prime motive behind running evening shifts is to get multiple salaries while neglecting the problems of parents and their kids. The parents, on the other hand, are dealing with a wide range of problems and are concerned about their children’s abnormal and unhealthy learning during the evening shift.
A psychologist, Professor Nadeem, said, “Students of evening shift schools do not perform brilliantly due to changes in their sleep cycles which affect the hormones that regulate sleep. Changes in sleep habits have a significant effect on the academic performance of students by reducing concentration and attention deficits in the classroom.”
Additionally, it can be challenging for students on the evening shift to engage in social activities that are crucial to their healthy routine. According to him, a two-shift system is kept in place when there are natural disasters that impact the physical conditions of the school building, but it is not recommended under normal circumstances.
